The Art of the WineThe grape surplus of 1978 and Peter Lehmann's loyalty to independent growers led him to form a venture named the 'Masterson Barossa Vignerons'. Knowing that this would be a huge financial gamble he chose the name 'Masterson' after Damon Runyon's famous character, gambler Sky Masterson in the 'Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown' (Guys and Dolls). Later renamed Peter Lehmann Wines, he retained the gambler's card image of the Queen of Clubs that inspired the commissioning of South Australian artists to create images for each of the wines. Peter Lehmann knew all along that the Barossa is the best place in the world to grow grapes and make wine.Shiraz and Grenache make perfect wine partners. Blended together, they each bring qualities which open up a deliciously new wine dimension.
