Colour: Brilliant pale yellow with a light green hue.Nose: Intense lifted fruit characters of subtle peaches, Granny Smith apples and honeydew melons. Clean, fresh and appealing.Taste: A wine of creamy texture and generous flavour and mouth feel. Flavours of honeydew melon, lime and fresh apples are further complexed and enhanced by malo-lactic fermentation and extended yeast lees contact.Overall: Winemaking philosophy behind the Promised Land Unwooded Chardonnay begins in the vineyard with fruit selection from blocks that have a larger canopy protecting the fruit from direct sunlight exposure. The fruit retains greater herbaciousness which we believe is integral to the unwooded style.As there is no oak treatment, we build complexity and depth into the wine by utilising several varied winemaking techniques. The aim being to produce a wine that displays varietal Chardonnay character without the masking effect of oak that is not simplistic in weight and structure.A great introduction to wine for new consumers.
