Bouquet The bouquet displays dark plums and briary/brambly berry fruit characters, with hints of toasty oak and white chocolate in the background.

Palate The palate is generous and approachable offering juicy blackcurrant and plummy characters, a firm acid backbone, supple chocolaty tannins and a warm lingering finish.

After a cool spring and summer, the 2006 harvest began two weeks later than usual. This long cool ripening period made for excellent intensity and flavour development. The much lower yields, (25% – 50% less than average), was an important factor in enabling red varieties to ripen sufficiently in such a mild season. The early onset of autumn-like weather patterns extended the ripening and harvesting period, with careful fruit selection ensuring only the best quality fruit was harvested.

The majority of the fruit was all harvested from our Estate vineyards. The fruit was crushed and destemmed then fermented in a combination of static fermenters, with about 50% of the components receiving extended maceration on skins for a month. The various components underwent malolactic fermentation in a combination of tank and oak, before completing 12 months maturation in a selection of predominantly French oak barriques (45% new oak in total).
